These are a few of my favorite things

Personal

I’ve been so busy with school and ministry that it feels like I’m not really human. It sort of feels like I’ve just been a robot who goes about my daily routine. To be completely honest, I started to feel like I was in a Cymbalta commercial for awhile:

So in order to shake this depressing feeling, I wanted to share some of my favorite things (list is not exhaustive).

4159359698_edc653b9a61. My Niece, Sophie – I went over to my sisters place for Thanksgiving this year. During my time there I was able to hang out with Sophie. She’s past her terrible twos and now she’s entering into one of the cutest stages of her life. My only beef with her is that she calls me, “Uncle Jor-Jonathan.” I think she had Jordan and I confused for the first part of her life. Poor kid.

I know what it feels like to be overshadowed by an older sister. Micah and I have this thing where I do my elmo laugh and he just cracks up. I love that kid.

4158598851_24362bedeb3. Night Strike – This is my favorite part of ministry. For the past year, I’ve been taking my group out to the city of Pomona every other Friday. We partner with several churches to serve and bless the residents of Pomona. We provide food, clothing and a laundry cleaning service (via Laundry Love) but more than that, we provide a consistent community for those who generally don’t have a community. We provide dignity for those who generally are stripped of all dignity. After every Night Strike, I’m astonished at what God is doing on the streets. I often leave saying, “I can’t believe I get to this!”

4. Sinus Rinse – This is the greatest invention in the world. A little weird and gross, but AMAZING! I’ve been fighting a cold for the past 2 weeks. Usually when I get sick my sinuses get really congested. When Parker came from Rhode Island and sang the praises of Sinus Rinsing. He said that it really helps with a cold. So I finally went out and go a kit. I’ve been using it since. The way it works is that you still the tip of the bottle into one nostril and squeeze a steady stream of water up your nose, into your sinus and out the other nostril. GROSS I know.. But I’ve been able to sleep well and breathe through my nose this whole time. Really helpful! Here’s a video of someone doing it:

4159360964_0b3b7e5bc05. My Ukulele – That’s RIGHT folks! I got myself a Ukulele. Why? Ever since I went to Hawaii for my High School choir, I’ve always wanted one. I also want to lead worship with it one day. I don’t know what it is but I like instruments that are outside the norm. I love the sound of Uk, it’s so cheery. I’ve learned a couple of song, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

6. Destroy Jordan Hamel and Tim Cheung at a game of Settler of Catan. I am currently undefeated. I’m red. =)

Well these are some of my favorite things! I know I could have done stuff like “my Bible” but I wanted to share things that most people wouldn’t expect.

That is all.
